There are hundreds of ways to volunteer with MIPA! And there are many reasons too! It can be a great way to get involved in the culture of Mercer Island and help provide fun events for our children, and raise money for our charitable giving. You can meet many other moms and dads and kids in the community and make lifelong friends.
A great way to start is to volunteer for a 2-hour shift at one of our major events. You can see how things are run, and how the years of planning and organization is passed on from year to year. Some of our volunteers who grew up on the Island remember attending events like Circus, and then volunteering as middle schoolers. Now they help plan and run these events and bring their young children too. You can become a part of this tradition and meet lots of new friends in the process. It is a great way to get involved and meet new people.
Planning for events and serving as a board member are other great ways to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering at a higher level, please contact our co-presidents at president@mipreschoolassociation.org and let them know what kinds of things you’d like to do. Many of our volunteer positions are seasonal, and some require a few hours a month throughout the school year.
